Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Duties: Lead designs to deliver key technologies and production solutions that continue to enhance PACCAR's reputation as an industry leader in the development of MD and HD vehicles. Translate vehicle performance goals into concepts and develop designs through to production implementation utilizing Creo Parametric. Coordinate and execute design activities across multiple divisions of PACCAR to meet program goals. Provide plant support for pilot and normal production builds by tracking and solving engineering issues. Collaborate with internal and external partners to analyze and validate designs with FEA, CFD, and/or durability testing. Create rapid prototypes to quickly evaluate and/or validate design concepts. Employ Design for Six Sigma and engineering tools to develop and validate designs. Manage implementation of product changes by tracking project schedule, budget, and functional requirements throughout the entire life of the project. Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions. Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously. Position requires domestic travel up to 10% to support pilot and regular production builds at PACCAR plants.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or foreign equivalent degree plus 3 years of automotive industry-related background experience, including at least 3 years of experience in each of the following:
Extensive use of 3D modeling software with ability to create/optimize part and assembly models of moderate to complex designs that meet aesthetic, structural, cost, and/or weight goals.
Using Project Management tools to plan, organize, and direct projects from concept phase to production.
Using Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques/tools, including DFMEA and DVP&R to mitigate potential issues/risks with the product being designed.
Working with internal and external organizations to validate multiple design concepts utilizing Finite Element Analysis, Durability Testing, and Highly Accelerated Life Tests.
Providing engineering support to a manufacturing facility, analyzing and solving production issues associated with the design of parts being produced and assembled.
Designing parts suitable for automotive applications using casting, stamping, molding, welding, and extrusion manufacturing processes.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
SALARY: $105,352/year to $136,300/year. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, as a U.S. PACCAR employee, you will have a full range of benefit options including 401K with match, pension, 10 vacation days, 12 holidays, sick time, medical, dental, and vision plans, FSA, HSA, disability programs, and life and accidental death insurance.
LOCATION: Position full-time, 40 hours per week, with PACCAR Inc located in Kirkland, WA. Position requires domestic travel up to 10% to support pilot and regular production builds at PACCAR plants.
