The AV Project Manager will plan, coordinate, implement and finalize projects according to the specifications and deadlines, all while keeping the project within budget. This position reports to the Manager of the Project Management Office. This is a remote role, and the successful candidate will live in commutable proximity to New York City for site visits as needed and required.
Job Duties:
Responsible for overseeing the efforts of all project activities and personnel
Review all project documents, including drawings, specifications, contracts, scope of work, and construction schedule
Review and interpret consultant drawings, project specifications, and bid documents.
Facilitate internal and External kick-off meeting with all key participants
Proactively manage risks, scope changes, and consultant-directed modifications.
Create and manage the project plan and schedule
Coordinate and schedule personnel for all phases of project execution, including submittals, engineering, procurement, fabrication, quality control, shipping, installation, programming, commissioning, testing, training, and close-out documentation
Function as the focal point for internal and external project communication and documentation
Coordinate activities with general contractor, construction manager, owner and other trades, as required
Communication effectively through distribution of weekly status reports to all key project contacts
Manage and monitor labor expenditures of all disciplines and personnel over the course of the project lifecycle, and escalate any issues that may impact profitability
Generate or respond to construction communication including, but not limited to: requests for information, change orders, room readiness, delay notifications, theft or damage to materials, tools or vehicles, safety or injury reports, material or inventory manifests, punch lists, field reports, sign-off documents, warranty information, and any other documentation as assigned or required
Regularly inspect quality of work performed by staff and subcontractors
Ensure all systems meet client objectives, per original design intent and scope of work
Coordinate and/or provide training to client
Coordinate turn-over and onboarding of project to service department when project concludes
Other duties as needed
Technical Skills:
Understanding of AV systems: video conferencing, control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron), audio distribution, video walls, etc.
Familiarity with CAD software and AV design documentation.
Ability to read and interpret AV schematics and construction drawings.
Strong knowledge of networked AV systems and signal flow.
Project Management Skills:
Proven experience managing AV or technical installation projects. At least 5 years' experience managing AV Projects
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Familiar with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Procore).
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
Effective collaborator
Direct experience working with AV consultants on bid/spec projects.
Understanding of construction documentation, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and closeout packages.
Ability to follow and enforce procedures for consultant approval workflows
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications such as PMP, CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I are highly desirable.
5 years of AV project management experience.
