Job Description

The incumbent will schedule, coordinate, monitor, evaluate and report on all assigned public works projects. Selected individual oversees and coordinates public works projects to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, department and division policies and procedures, and state procurement laws. This position is responsible for data collection, analytics, document review. Selected individual will utilize written and verbal communication skills while prioritizing task appropriately. They are also responsible for providing technical assistance in defining and determining the feasibility of construction and renovation projects as well as developing and monitoring project budgets and approving expenditures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Construction Project Manager

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Three years experience in construction project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of construction projects.

Three years experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.

Six months experience in interpreting national and local building and fire codes.

Six months experience in contract administration which includes overseeing the development and negotiation of contracts and bid specifications; managing bid openings; awarding and executing contracts.

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements. Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified.

One year of experience in commercial construction project management overseeing projects such as HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical work.

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

Six months experience in budget management and control which includes managing a budget for the purpose of keeping expenditures within the limitations of available appropriations and available revenue and maintaining, monitoring, projecting, and controlling a budget within set policies and procedures.
