Performs technical field work in the above water inspection, identification, and reporting of deterioration, malfunctions, and potential hazards of County bascule and fixed span bridges, culverts, pedestrian bridges, and golf cart underpasses. Performs utility attachment inspections prior to and after installation of utilities to County bridges. Uses computer/software to generate comprehensive, detailed reports. May provide information and act as a liaison between other agencies, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and Palm Beach County in regards to the bridge inspection program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification, supplemented by vocational/technical training in Drafting OR one (1) year of experience in reviewing and utilizing as-built or other construction-related drawings; minimum of one (1) year of experience working in building and/or bridge/marine construction.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Reading and interpreting federal, state, local, and Coast Guard regulations, and compiling/sending related correspondence; operating power boats; as a Bridge Inspector. Also desirable: FDOT Bridge Inspector Certification; successful completion of the National Highway Safety Institute's Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges 10-day course (must specify on application).
Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
