Architectural Project Manager

Job Description

The Architectural Project Manager plays a pivotal role as both a people and project leader, overseeing multiple projects while actively participating in marketing pursuits to achieve favorable outcomes for clients. Reporting to a Principal, this position involves engaging in business development efforts to increase revenues and maximize profitability by establishing beneficial partnerships. The role includes estimating fees, determining scopes of work, assisting throughout the proposal development and writing process, and managing contracts for intricate projects. The Architectural Project Manager is independent and manages complex projects of moderate to large size, contributing significantly to the development of junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple projects and participate in marketing pursuits to ensure advantageous outcomes.
  • Engage in business development efforts to support increasing revenues and maximizing profitability.
  • Estimate fees, determine scopes of work, assist throughout the proposal development and writing process, and manage contracts for complex projects.
  • Manage others and contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Oversee all aspects of assigned projects, including leading a team and coordinating with internal/external design team members, specialty consultants, clients, construction managers, contractors, and governing agencies.
  • Lead the preparation of documents by the design team for obtaining required local and state permits.
  • Suggest new ideas and processes, continuously learning about the latest industry developments.
  • Interpret, create, and redefine standards.
  • Build and enhance client relationships.
  • Manage internal finances, including billing, invoice generation, and asset/resource allocation.
  • Serve as the daily contact for key internal and external project personnel, ensuring the resolution of project-related issues.
  • Lead and supervise the development of clear and complete drawings and specifications.
  • Plan, organize, and regulate workload assignments as needed.
  • Prepare coordinated design and construction documents to obtain governing agency permits and procure competitive bids from contractors for public works projects.
  • Engage and foster the growth of team members, providing encouragement and regular feedback.
  • Manage career conversations with your team on an established schedule.
  • Develop future leaders within the organization.
  • Engage, motivate, and lead stakeholders to develop strategies and plans to move the organization in the desired direction.

Essential Skills
  • Thorough understanding of current trends and areas of growth within the architectural industry.
  • Deep expertise in design specialty.
  • Ability to foster a creative design environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the building design environment.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards and building codes.
  • Ability to collaborate productively with multidisciplinary team members, consultant groups, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in field of expertise.
  • At least twelve years of architecture experience.
  • Professional licensure (RA) preferred.

Work Environment

The individual will start working in-office with the potential for increased work-from-home flexibility after 3-6 months of acclimation. The role requires frequent interaction with clients and customers, more so than other positions such as Project Architect or Designer.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
