Job Description: Electrical/HVAC ESTIMATOR
We provide HVACR, Controls, and Fire/Security system installation and services, specializing in support to the Logistics, Biotech, Hospitality, Health, and Educational markets. We are currently seeking an Electrical/HVAC Estimator for our Commercial Construction and Design/Build departments.
Job Responsibilities:
This position will report to the General Manager. This role will support the estimating department, for all bids with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, and Architects. Estimates will include Plumbing, HVAC piping, etc. in a Commercial and Industrial environment.
Work with Senior Management to determine appropriate hurdle rates and ensure bids meet these requirements.
In addition to providing competitive bids as an individual contributor for HVACR and Plumbing Bid/Spec situations or assist with the design and costing of an HVACR or Plumbing application as part of a Design/Build package, while meeting financial hurdle constraints. This includes determining Sheet metal duct requirements, HVACR piping and Plumbing requirements.
Determine manpower requirements (union environment) to meet project schedules.
Determine Electrical, HVACR and Plumbing material and equipment requirements to meet project requirements.
Ensure materials, equipment, and personnel required for all tasks meet the critical path requirements of the customer.
Obtain Subcontractor quotes for areas will not self-perform work.
Obtain competitive equipment and material quotes.
Identify Safety plans; permit requirements; bonding requirements and include in the bids.
Identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, or improve schedules. Maintain and surpass project profitability requirements.
Attend De-Scope meeting and represent the company with the customer
Insure all and policies and procedures are accounted for in the Bid Process. (Safety; etc.)
Ensure all Bid Documents are complete, Review bids with management
Chair a project turn-over meeting with Project Managers after successfully winning a BID.
Ensure all project bidding information is maintained in job folders.
Manage time to be able to bid multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
BS in mechanical engineering or engineering technology preferred but will accept equivalent on the job experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial and Applied Electrical HVACR and construction estimating
Demonstrated ability to estimate projects from 25,000 to $4 Million profitably; experience with larger projects is a plus.
Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings; CAD experience is a plus. (2D and 3D solids; BIM models; Revit); Ability to annotate drawings using Bluebeam is a plus.
Experience bidding HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems; Knowledge of HVAC controls, BAS systems, and fire suppression systems is a plus.
Knowledge of PTAC, SPAC, Unitary, Applied (Chillers), Boilers, Industrial applications, and refrigeration systems is required. Also, sheet metal ducts, HVAC piping, and VRV applications.
Working knowledge of systems from the HVAC majors (Carrier, Trane, JCI, Daiken) and refrigeration companies (Hussman, Hill-Phoenix) is desired.
Must be experienced with complex project schedules, reading specification, takeoffs, value engineering, competitive purchasing, and subcontracting.
Demonstrated ability with commercial estimating software.
Computer Proficiency is required, including Outlook and Microsoft Office (Excel, WORD, PowerPoint), and the ability to work remotely via laptop, iPad, or iPhone.
A background in Project Management is a strong PLUS.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to work closely with customers and GC's during de-Scope meetings, and with project managers during turnover meetings.
Dynamic Individual who is looking to grow and take initiative.
Possess a driver's license in good standing with reliable transportation.
