Responsibilities Effectively manage the design, construction, commissioning, and start-up of domestic capital projects ($20MM to $60MM in size). Projects include the upgrade and expansion of existing facilities as well as new facilities. Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, authorization requests and schedules along with basic engineering and detailed design construction packages Direct and manage project execution by safely performing the work defined in the project plan to achieve stated objectives Coordinate and lead internal / external teams and third-party engineering firms Anticipate and identify areas of risk and mitigate through proactive risk assessments and implementation of countermeasure / mitigation strategies Use established PM tools and techniques (cash flow projections, scope / schedule control, etc.) to stay within authorized budget limits and achieve the overall project and organizational objectives (safety, quality, capacity, timing, etc.) Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders and senior leadership via steering team meetings and other communication updates Domestic travel requirements estimated to be 30% Requirements A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline A minimum of 20 years' experience in managing large capital projects in the specialty chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or food industries Proven ability to successfully design, construct and commission capital equipment and systems in operating chemical plants Project scheduling (MS Project, Primavera, etc.), cost control and cost forecasting skills Demonstrated SAP or equivalent experience Working understanding of P&IDs along with a basic understanding of industry and governmental standards for design and construction Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills, including a demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline teams and motivate others Qualities which are preferred but not required: Corporate-level owner-side large project management experience encompassing all project phases (FEL, detailed design, construction, commissioning) Master of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline Additional formal Project Management certification (e.g., PMI or CII) Licensed Professional Engineer Capital project estimating skills Hands-on field experience in chemical manufacturing facilities with process and equipment commissioning, safety reviews, performance testing, and troubleshooting Benefits From internships to seasoned professionals, our growing company provides career opportunities for all levels of experience.
