WHAT YOU GET TO DO
The Software Project Manager III is responsible for the detailed preparation of the software solution concept, overseeing the implementation of the solution from design and implementation through testing and delivery. This position will work closely with the customers/clients, SW Consultants, commissioning, and developers to communicate, monitor and formulate solutions and detail scope, as well as map out specified requirements. This position directs all technical aspects of KNAPP’s Software Realization process in coordination with the applicable functional departments. Further, the Software Project Manager III will ensure that all tasks and job duties are completed within the project life cycle, offering support and guidance to other stakeholders as well as communicating project status and progress.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for customer communication/clarification of details
- Reviews technical functional specifications
- Creates internal documents for project-executing departments
- Prepares test plans (factory tests, internal and customer-specific acceptance tests)
- Participates in Factory acceptance testing and internal testing
- Responsible for Systems Site implementation (potential development and/or provision of customer training, acceptance tests and resolving problems encountered at the site)
- Facilitates and addresses customer questions, integration, and interfacing issues
- Coordinates, participates in, and plans meetings with the mechanical, hardware, and electrical engineers
- Provides support to the project-implementation departments (Planning, Development, Software Quality Assurance, Commissioning)
- Support Project Management
- Understands and reports to project stakeholders the impact of any deviations from the original scope of project-to-project stakeholders
- Coordinates customer projects with the software suppliers (KNAPP internal and external 3rd parties)
- Offer training/support and guidance to the new employees during their early employment period
- Improve planning documents through periodic revisions and compliance updates
- Manages customer project programs, which are comprised of several individual projects for the same customer
- Responsible for Controls Information and knowledge transfer for the department (local at KUS) and within own special field (including setting up and driving associated processes)
- Develops additional knowledge through external material, optimizing the flow of ideas and effective solutions, e.g., stay apprised on current trends and innovations, study applicable marketing and new technical material, attend seminars on relevant topics, etc.
- Actively supports the stakeholders in the department by asking and determining, who needs information/ ongoing updates on the subject, in what granularity, and for what purpose
- Engages in active knowledge transfer, not only of self-development, but also of others in industry topics (through lectures, training, further education, expert advice, and/or problem solving)
- Prepares provisions of modern specialist training materials (e.g., for eLearning)
- Supports department management with the development and implementation of assigned strategic initiatives
- Performs administrative tasks to support the Supervisor (e.g., approve hours for other team members in KNAPP’s time tracking system)
WHAT YOU HAVE
- B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, related discipline or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of intralogistics automation software and process design experience
- 7+ years of warehouse operation and automation experience (preferred)
- Intermediate level knowledge of intralogistics, automated storage systems and understanding of complex processes
- Intermediate level knowledge of intralogistics/automation software architecture (WMS, WCS, SRC), interface communication, programming, databases, and data structures
- Intermediate level knowledge of inventory strategies commonly deployed in the process of warehousing
- Intermediate level knowledge of picking technologies such as automated storage systems, goods-to-person, voice, PTL, A-frames, unit sorters and different methods of deployment of each technology
- Intermediate level understanding of system components of KNAPP Group (function, software, hardware)
- Intermediate level understanding of complex processes in the workflow of our customers
- Intermediate level understanding of what is required to integrate KNAPP system into the customer environment
- Reports SW related project status to the project management, senior leadership, and customers, tracking timelines for SW planning, SW development, testing, and commissioning
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, DevOps, KNAPP-internal tools)
- Intermediate level understanding of KANBAN and Agile methodology
- Language skills (English mandatory, another language beneficial)
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
- Passport or ability to obtain passport
- Professional office etiquette is required at all times
- Overtime (occasional) as required by work
- Travel is required (up to 30%)
- Ability to travel by air both domestically (U.S.) and internationally (primarily to Austria and other parts of Europe, as well as Canada)
- Physical requirements may include sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting to 50 pounds
