Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will conduct construction staking, topographic boundary, and ALTA surveys while supporting project objectives and addressing survey-related challenges. Responsibilities
- Conduct construction staking, topographic boundary, and ALTA surveys.
- Organize and maintain survey job files.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff.
- Conduct daily site visits.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures for survey personnel.
Essential Skills
- 3-4 years of land surveying experience.
- Proficiency in construction staking and ALTA, boundary, or construction staking surveys.
- Experience with GPS and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to become a crew chief in 1-2 years.
- Experience with boundary survey software, utility locating, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Total Station, Trimble GPS, Topcon, Leica, and Carlson.
Work Environment
This role is primarily on-site, with 90% of work time spent in the field. Initially, you will start as an Instrument Man and receive training in our company's methods. After the training period, you will lead a two-person crew. Crew Chiefs will receive a company vehicle, with mileage reimbursement available if personal vehicles are used initially. The company has about 50 employees and is located in Aurora. The survey team includes 18 members, with 3 PLSs and 12 field personnel. Expect to engage in construction staking through spring, followed by ALTA and boundary surveys. We offer 3 weeks of accrued vacation, with an additional day for each year of service after 5 years, along with 6 standard holidays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
