Job Title: Instrument Operator

Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Survey Instrument Operator to support field survey crews in collecting accurate data for construction, boundary, topographic, and other land surveying projects. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience using survey equipment and a strong interest in land surveying practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Party Chief in conducting field surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
  • Operate and maintain survey instruments such as total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.
  • Set up and break down survey equipment at job sites.
  • Record and organize field data accurately for processing.
  • Follow instructions from the Party Chief and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field.
  • Proficiency with survey instruments (total stations, GPS, levels, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of land surveying principles and terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in various conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on DOT or construction-related survey projects.
  • Familiarity with data collection software and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
