This position requires work in various climate and working conditions and includes indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazards. Work schedule may include weekends, evenings, and on-call hours as well as travel to all Tucson Water sites, with some sites in remote locations. This position is a primary driver and will be expected to operate a city vehicle.

The Construction Inspector Supervisor position in the City of Tucsons Water Department is responsible for supervising, training, organizing and evaluating the work of Construction Inspectors. The projects support Tucson Waters production and distribution systems. Construction Inspectors ensure that all Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) regulations, as well as Tucson Waters policies and procedures, are followed.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager. This position exercises supervision over Construction Inspectors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Verifies all construction projects are compliant with Tucson Waters specifications, standard detail requirements, follows the Safe Water Drinking Act (SWDA) and ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) requirements.

  • Drives to various worksites to conduct daily inspection. Monitors progress, enforces codes and investigates complaints. Performs quality assurance checks to ensure contractors work meets the required standards.

  • Provides all documentation required by state and federal regulations, including but not limited to As-Builts, ADEQ forms, water loss reports, and daily reports.

  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to schedule meetings with contractors, provides construction updates and communicates compliance requirements. Attends staff and pre-construction meetings.

  • Supervises and coordinates the daily work of assigned staff by determining priorities, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and providing suggestions.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

6 months post high school Experience Four (4) years of relevant experience

Equivalency

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

License/Certifications

Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Supervisory training and experience
