Electrical Engineer I

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) has an exciting opportunity for Junior Electrical Engineer to work in our Houston (Westchase) Design Center. We are looking for qualifications ranging from graduate engineers for entry level positions to engineers with 1 to 3 years of engineering experience in the Power and Process industries.

• Expected to work in a collaborative team environment on projects involving new design, modifications, retrofits, or preliminary/conceptual designs related to utility scale and industrial electrical power distribution systems under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Group Manager.
• Assigned project specific tasks related to electrical power distribution systems under the direction of a project lead.
• Typical duties include (but not limited to) writing electrical equipment and general construction specifications, performing voltage drop calculations and selecting appropriate conductor size using criteria in the National Electrical Code (NEC), creating and maintaining project deliverables.
• Assist designers/drafters in execution of new and revised drawings related to one-line diagrams, motor control schematics and interconnection wiring diagrams.
• Collects data and gathers information or documents.
• Performs standard calculations or analysis.
• Prepares drawings and visual aids.
• Observes construction activities, as necessary.
• Assists in other tasks such as preparations, research, drawings, and computer-aided design (CAD) work.
• Compile and review lists associated with electrical equipment and process electrical loads.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
• At least 1 year (min.) of experience working as an electrical engineer, preferably for oil and gas and petrochemical projects.
• Effective Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
• Strong desire to learn
• Judgment and Decision Making
• Attention to Detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and similar programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Internship in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical or other relevant Industrial or Process environment
