Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Floor Leader, the Laser Operator is responsible for full operation of laser center and performs machine operation duties per specifications and standard operating procedures.

Essential Role Responsibilities

  • Performs set-up and operates laser machine equipment.
  • Produces flat pattern sheet metal parts and completes required documentation.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy and raw materials.
  • Develops and maintains program parameters and tooling.
  • Works with floor leader to ensure quality control on piece parts and adheres to standard operating procedures.
  • Effectively communicates with team to ensure seamless transitions between shifts.
  • Reports concerns, issues, and shortages to appropriate leaders.
  • Verify material thickness as called out on material pick list
  • Check KERF settings and adjust as necessary to ensure part quality
  • Capable of using measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints including material gauge and tolerances
  • Perform first/last article quality check and check parts for burrs
  • Remove tabs, remove PVC coating from parts, and de-burr parts after cutting as necessary
  • Place parts neatly with job orders and deliver to next work center
  • Clean/replace laser slats as necessary
  • Maintains clean and functional work areas and adheres to safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify improvements and suggest Continuous Improvement ideas to fabrication leadership. Help in driving improvements to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, increase throughput.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Leader(s).
Qualifications
  • Basic organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills (i.e., ability to use mouse and navigate Windows).
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work in multi-task environment.
  • Ability to differentiate colors, use basic hand tools, read engineering blueprints, bill of materials.
  • Ability to operate most fabrication equipment, strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of production/quality standards, and assembly procedures/processes (preferred).

Essential Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma; additional education or certification (Preferred)
  • 5-7 years sheet metal fabrication experience, foodservice manufacturing industry (Preferred)
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience
  • Foodservice manufacturing industry (Preferred)

Pay Range: $22.42 - $28.02 per hour. This role is bonus eligible. The actual pay rate for this position will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, and qualifications.
