Position Overview The Facilities Mechanical/HVAC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, plumbing, and other building infrastructure within the Facility. This role involves supervising a team of mechanical and controls technicians, ensuring all work meets safety standards and operational requirements, and supporting the organization's goals for energy efficiency, comfort, and reliability. The Facilities Mechanical/HVAC Supervisor will coordinate maintenance schedules, provide training to staff, and collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of Mechanical/HVAC and Controls technicians, providing guidance, training, and support. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship. Conduct performance evaluations and address any issues related to team performance. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment among team members. Mechanical/HVAC Systems Maintenance: Oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, plumbing, and other mechanical systems. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to optimize system performance. Monitor the condition of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards. Coordinate prompt responses to urgent mechanical or HVAC issues to minimize downtime or disruptions. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all mechanical and HVAC work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including building codes and safety standards. Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards. Promote and enforce safety protocols and procedures among team members. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs. Recommend system upgrades or modifications to improve HVAC and mechanical system performance. Implement sustainability initiatives, such as energy-saving systems or practices. Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to assess HVAC and mechanical needs and plan projects or upgrades. Review blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for installations or repairs. Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized projects or repairs. Monitor inventory of mechanical and HVAC supplies, ensuring availability for maintenance and repairs. Budget and Reporting: Manage the mechanical/HVAC budget, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting. Prepare regular reports on team performance, completed projects, and system conditions for senior management. Track key performance metrics, including system uptime, energy consumption, and repair response times. Qualifications and Skills Education and Experience: Associate or B.S. degree in HVAC Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in mechanical or HVAC maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience with mechanical systems in commercial or industrial settings is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft applications and computerized maintenance systems. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, and mechanical equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in HVAC and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics. Familiarity with HVAC tools, testing equipment, and safety procedures. Knowledge of computerized building automation systems (BAS) or HVAC controls systems. Core Competencies: Strong leadership and team management skills.
