Sr Estimator - Defense Proposals

Sterling Heights, MI

Contract Position

$46.00-$51.53/Hour

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive proposal cost estimating for both large, strategic bids and smaller ongoing efforts across various stages of development.

  • Participate in core proposal team meetings , ensuring adherence to schedules and compliance with proposal requirements.

  • Translate customer requirements into actionable pricing tasks across internal functions; monitor and ensure response conformity .

  • Review and validate functional estimates of labor hours and costs against the scope of work.

  • Develop and consolidate pricing documentation and summaries using ProPricer software.

  • Support preparation and delivery of customer pricing volumes and internal executive briefings .

  • Contribute to negotiation preparation by providing cost analysis and pricing artifacts.

  • Assist in internal and external audits , ensuring documentation and compliance.

  • Participate in peer reviews and continuous process improvements.

  • Perform additional proposal-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education : Bachelor's degree required.

  • Experience :

    • Strong background in Program Management , Finance , Accounting , or the Defense Industry .

    • Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) .

    • Demonstrated experience supporting DoD or Government proposals .

  • Technical Skills :

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel , Word, and PowerPoint.

    • Experience with ProPricer or similar proposal pricing software is a plus.

  • Other Requirements :

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be comfortable presenting to leadership and guiding cross-functional teams.

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

    • Must be self-motivated and proactive .

    • Occasional travel to customer or supplier sites may be required.
