Physical plant electrician

Description

Under the direction of the Physical Plant Director, or other appropriate staff, the Maintenance & Electrician technician provides day-to-day repair and preventative maintenance services on university equipment and infrastructure. Troubleshoots and makes repairs on all types of electrical components located on campus. Perform routine work assignments in all areas of the Maintenance Department in their mission to provide a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained facility.

  • Maintain and service all electrical systems and distribution equipment throughout the campus. These include single and three-phase systems from 24 to 480 volts.
  • Complete work orders as assigned. Repair and replace lamps, electrical fixtures, controls, panels, breakers, and wires.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance (P.M.) duties on all electrical systems and distribution equipment. Assist with P.M. duties in other areas of the Maintenance Department.
  • Promotes a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area including an assigned University vehicle. Responsible for the upkeep of all assigned tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of the Physical Plant.

Qualifications

Previous experience in electrical service work in either a residential or commercial environment. A positive work attitude and a willingness to work together as a team are essential. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be available to work any shift, if needed. Must be able to perform physical work, including lifting and maneuvering at least 80 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations, and be able to work from at least an eight-foot ladder. A valid Ohio Driver's License is required to operate University vehicles.

Shift Schedule: This position will work a day shift M-F 7 am-3:30 pm.
