About the Opportunity: GPAC is actively recruiting on behalf of a well-established steel fabrication and erection company known for delivering high-quality structural and miscellaneous metalwork. We are seeking a Junior Steel Estimator to support the pre-construction team by assisting in preparing bids and estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position designed for someone with up to 1 year of experience who is eager to learn and grow within a collaborative and detail-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals (stairs, railings, catwalks, etc.)

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents under supervision

  • Perform material takeoffs and help generate quantity estimates

  • Support vendor and subcontractor pricing requests

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams

  • Learn to use industry-standard estimating software to help prepare proposals

  • Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions as a team member

  • Track project changes and update estimates with guidance

Qualifications:

  • Up to 1 year of experience in estimating or related field, preferably in steel fabrication or erection

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings related to metalwork

  • Basic understanding of metals and metal fabrication processes

  • Willingness to learn and develop estimating skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)

  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and eagerness to collaborate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or training in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (not required)

  • Hands-on experience or exposure to steel fabrication or erection processes is a plus

  • Interest in learning industry-related software such as Tekla, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Fabtrol, or similar tools
