Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary: You will report to the IE Engineering Supervisor in this on-site based position. The Electrical Engineer provides on-site technical support to improve and troubleshoot the plant's electrical systems. This position is accountable for providing electrical support on daily plant activities, projects, and I/E Reliability. You will be directly involved in preparing, and/or reviewing cost estimates, studies, designs, and Preventive Maintenance strategies to verify completeness, accuracy to the site's needs, and compliance with the applicable Regulations and industry best practices. Job Description:You Will:
Support, promote, and participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and activities, and ensure compliance within the IE discipline.
Work within applicable codes, industry standard practices, and company operating standards to maintain, install, commission Electrical Systems up to 27.6kV, including substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, drives, synchronous and induction motors, generators, etc., with some responsibility for instrumentation and controls within the plant.
Responsible for ensuring the Electrical System model (SKM) is maintained for changes in the plant with periodic third-party validations.
Provide technical advice and review the development of Engineering Work Packages, Preventive Maintenance Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, and Hazard Assessments relating to the Electrical System.
Represent the IE Engineering Group as part of the Reliability Leadership Team. Conduct and participate in investigations of plant downtime to identify root causes and actionable solutions to prevent future occurrences.
Respond and support troubleshooting within a 24/7 plant environment.
Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations regarding equipment performance and preventative maintenance strategies.
Be a Senior Authorized Person to the Electrical System, which may include authoring, reviewing, or approving Order to Operate and Hot Electrical work permits.
Develop and manage single-discipline electrical projects, which may include Requisitioning necessary materials, managing budgets, field coordination, and following MOC protocol. Liaise with Electrical Authorities (Hydro One, OEB, IESO, ESA, etc.).
You Have:
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Knowledge of national codes, industry standards, and government regulations for the installation of electrical systems and equipment in a chemical industrial setting.
Knowledge of Electrical Engineering design, calculation, and analysis for chemical manufacturing.
Knowledge of electrical system modeling with either ETAP or SKM software is an asset
Experience in Safety Instrumented Systems, IEC 61511 (or equivalent), and Safety Life Cycle analysis is an asset.
Experience with microprocessor-based protective relays (SEL, Siprotec, MP-3000s) and related networking.
Knowledge of Protection Schemes such as fast bus protection, fast bus transfer, islanding, and dual comparison blocking is an asset.
Experience with Hazardous Area Classification design and applicable regulations.
The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
