About the Job:
Coeur Rochester is seeking an experienced and safety-driven Process Superintendent to lead the Process Department, which includes the Merrill Crowe processing plant, heap leach operations, refinery, and utility crews. This pivotal leadership position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production operations while driving continuous improvement and team development across the entire process department.
This is a high-impact role for a strategic leader with a strong technical foundation and proven success managing large teams and complex mineral processing operations.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all operations within the Process Department, including:
Merrill Crowe plant
Heap leach facilities
Refinery operations
Utility and support crews
Ensure safe and compliant execution of all processing activities in accordance with MSHA regulations, company policies, and best industry practices.
Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities for process optimization, recovery improvement, and cost control.
Collaborate cross-functionally with mine operations, crusher operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, and safety departments to support production goals and site objectives.
Provide direct leadership to process supervisors, ensuring clear communication of expectations and accountability for performance.
Establish and monitor KPIs, production forecasts, and metallurgical targets, and ensure alignment with budget and corporate goals.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives and new project implementation within the process area.
Review and manage department budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
Champion workforce development by mentoring and training staff, identifying growth opportunities, and maintaining a strong team culture.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, mining or metallurgy
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mineral processing, including supervisory or superintendent-level leadership in a mining environment.
- Strong technical background and operational expertise in heap leach, Merrill Crowe, refining, and support operations.
- Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating across departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in metallurgical analysis, production forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., MSHA, environmental compliance) in mining.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and data management systems.
