We have an exciting opportunity for an EH&S Manager to join our EH&S team in Tupelo, MS.

This position is responsible for managing all activities related to Environmental Health and Safety ensuring adherence to Company policy as well as appropriate laws and regulations. Develops and implements policies, programs and procedures to provide effective environmental health and safety programs(s) to protect employees and the general public. Provides leadership in the development of short and long-term objectives and recommends goals to management. Provides leadership and guidance in implementing new/revised objectives and maintains liaisons with other department managers. May accomplish objectives through team leaders. May be responsible for decisions that impact the unit(s) where erroneous recommendations could cause schedule delays and allocation of additional resources.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Develops and recommends policies, objectives, procedures and schedules for the department. Develops, implements and monitors uniform programs. Conducts quality control audits and evaluates work standards and performance levels ensuring uniformity, effectiveness and appropriate staffing levels.

+ In a leadership role, initiates, plans and coordinates project(s) including project design and schedule to meet objectives. Directs the development of short and long-term objectives and recommends goals to management.

+ Ensures documentation meets federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.

+ Manages activities related to environmental, health and safety programs and ensures Company compliance with any applicable regulations; reviews requirements regarding safety aspects.

+ Develops appropriate electronic and hard copy reports and records. May develop new or revise existing electronic or hard copy systems and makes internal and external presentations.

+ May act as a health and safety spokesperson with line management, program managers, technical staff, and outside representatives.

+ Ensures technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.

+ Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

+ Other duties as assigned or required.

**Job Qualifications:**

+ Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field and nine or more years of progressively complex experience with a Bachelors or seven or more years of progressively complex experience with a Masters, in environmental health and safety. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

+ Must demonstrate a detailed technical understanding of environmental health and safety principles, concepts, theories, regulations and practices; and comprehensive leadership skills including organizing, planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadline or milestones; and the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.

+ Must possess:

+ the ability to identify, analyze, interpret and resolve moderately complex management and technical problems;

+ good verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings;

+ good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, senior management and senior outside representatives;

+ the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and,

+ good computer skills. Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
