Gemma Services, located on a picturesque 36-acre campus in Plymouth Meeting and three satellite campuses, two in Philadelphia, promotes safety and nonviolence while cultivating a caring environment in a diverse and inclusive environment. Responsible for performing various carpentry duties; coordinating work within the department as well as with other departments. Planning, executing, and overseeing all carpentry-related activities. This role requires exceptional craftsmanship, and a deep knowledge of construction principles, safety regulations, and best practices. Ensures the highest quality of workmanship, adherence to project timelines, and efficient use of resources. Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
Participates in building additions and/or updates to existing structures or facilities.
Reviews specifications and building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and required materials.
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately plan and execute projects.
May perform other general grounds/maintenance duties as required.
Participates in all agency special events, including set-up and clean-up.
Actively participates, as needed, during non-scheduled working hours in snow removal or other emergencies as notified by the EOD or Sr. Operations Director.
Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent; specialized carpenter training and/or certification related to carpentry. Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship program or vocational training is highly preferred.
Skill(s): Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient carpentry skills, including finishing skills; ability to read blue prints; knowledge of fire, building, and OSHA codes/regulations; visual and auditory skills; ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb up to 30 feet, and lift items weighing 50 lbs. or less; ability to operate hand and power tools; valid driver's license.
Highly skilled and experienced professional in the field of carpentry. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of woodworking techniques, building codes, and project management. Expertise extends across various aspects of construction, from intricate custom work to large-scale structural projects.
Experience: A minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years' progressive experience in carpentry with a significant portion in a lead or supervisory role.
