These positions will be filled as Construction Inspector II or III depending on candidate qualifications. Salary ranges are as follow:

Construction Inspector II: $55,265.60 - $82,867.20
Construction Inspector III: 63,897.60 - $97,427.20

Construction I nspector II

Performs the construction inspection of homebuilding sites, sewer capping, demolitions, property service connection installations, commercial sites, bonded projects, linear storm & sanitary projects, flood protection, drainage response initiative projects, green infrastructure and water line projects to ensure compliance with MSD standard specifications and approved plans. Maintains neat and accurate records of all inspections and activities. Interprets plans and specifications. Performs compliance inspections. Enforces local ordinances. Inspects Sanitary Sewer Overflow routes and drainage hot spots. Performs flood pumping duties as assigned. Responds to customer requests and assists in regulatory inspections with other utilities. Attends public meetings and meets with elected officials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Construction Inspector III

Performs the construction inspection of homebuilding sites, sewer capping, demolitions, property service connection installations, commercial sites, bonded projects, linear storm & sanitary projects, pump stations, force mains, flood protection, drainage response initiative projects, green infrastructure, water line projects, capital projects, inflow & infiltration projects, emergency infrastructure repairs and other specialized fields to ensure compliance with MSD standard specifications and approved plans. Maintains neat and accurate records of all inspections and activities. Interprets plans and specifications. Performs compliance inspections. Enforces local ordinances. Inspects Sanitary Sewer Overflow routes and drainage hot spots. Performs flood pumping duties as assigned. Responds to customer requests and assists in regulatory inspections with other utilities. Attends public meetings and meets with elected officials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Inspects and assigns Sanitary Sewer Overflow routes and drainage hot spots. Documents inspection results. Performs flood pumping duties as assigned. Responds to customer requests and assists in regulatory inspections with other utilities. Attends public meetings and meets with elected officials. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of engineering plans, design methods, hydraulic calculations, surveying, construction practices, construction methods, equipment requirements and environmental practices; knowledge of Erosion & Sediment Control and Floodplain Ordinances; skill in oral and written communication; ability to resolve problems; ability to operate a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to organize work effectively; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts and weekends.

Construction Inspector III

Knowledge of engineering plans, design methods, hydraulic calculations, surveying, construction practices, construction methods, equipment requirements and environmental practices; knowledge of Erosion & Sediment Control and Floodplain Ordinances; skill in oral and written communication; ability to resolve problems; ability to operate a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to organize work effectively; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts and weekends.

Construction Inspector II

High School Diploma or GED; four or more years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must obtain a NICET Level II certification in Water & Sewer Lines or Stormwater & Wastewater System Inspection (or MSD approved equivalent) within 6 months. Must obtain EPSC Contractor Certification within 6 months. Must possess a valid drivers license. Must have safe work and driving habits.

Construction Inspector III

Associate Degree or Certification/Licensing in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology or a related field; six or more years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a NICET Level III certification in Water & Sewer Lines or Stormwater & Wastewater System Inspection (or MSD approved equivalent). Must obtain EPSC Contractor Certification within 6 months. Must possess a valid drivers license. Must have safe work and driving habits.
