Senior OCI Cloud Services Architect

Location: Richmond, VA (Local)

Duration: 9+ months (Contract)

On-Site Requirement: 4 days/week

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned OCI Cloud Services Architect to assist in designing, reviewing, and implementing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) solutions. This role will collaborate with customer agencies, managed cloud service providers, and internal teams to build efficient, secure, compliant solutions based on OCI best practices and wellarchitected frameworks

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and deploy Oracle OCI services aligned with customer and agency objectives.
  • Review proposed IT changes and projects for security, compliance, and fiscal accuracy.
  • Develop architecture and design documentation (diagrams, reference models, etc.).
  • Migrate and manage enterprise OS and application workloads in cloud environments.
  • Design and configure cloud network components, including virtual networks, VPNs, subnets, NSGs, and load balancers.
  • Implement automation using scripting and IaC tools (Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub).
  • Monitor and optimize cloud environments using tools such as OCI Monitoring, Puppet, Splunk, or similar.
  • Adhere to regulatory and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, CJIS, PCI).
  • Present technical solutions clearly to stakeholders and agencies.
  • Work independently under deadlines with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years in IT operations, with at least 3 years hands-on experience in cloud technologies preferably Oracle OCI
  • OCI-specific certifications (e.g., Cloud Ops, OCI Architect, Security) preferred minimum 4 years.
  • Proficiency in designing cloud-native architectures, reference models, and implementing security methodologies.
  • Experience with enterprise OS/application migration and management in cloud environments.
  • Deep knowledge of networking design on OCI: VCN, VPN, subnets, NSGs, and load balancing.
  • Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub, and scripting tools for automation.
  • Experience working with configuration and observability tools (e.g. Puppet, Fleet, Splunk, OCI Monitoring).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical solutions and collaborating with clients and agencies.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
