Basic Job Functions:

Vulcraft Alabama is seeking a mobile equipment mechanic. The role of a Mobile Equipment Mechanic is to SAFELY repair and perform preventive and non-routine maintenance on all company mobile equipment, which includes, but is not limited to, semi-trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, street sweeper, water truck, and small engines. Additional responsibilities include all aspects of maintenance requirements of commercial vehicles and a familiarity with federal and state regulations governing them, diagnosis and repair of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and A/C diagnosis and repair. Electronic engine controls and computer-based diagnostics.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in mobile equipment and trailer maintenance
  • Knowledge of electronic diesel engines
  • Basic computer skills
  • Hold a Class A CDL drivers license or obtain within the first year.
  • Basic hand tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified in R134A mobile air conditioning systems
  • Knowledge of the FMCSA safety program
  • Diesel mechanic certifications
  • DOT Inspector certification
  • Experience in Aluminum welding
