Nalco Water, an Ecolab Company, is seeking a talented scientist with expertise in thermal engineering, cooling equipment design and testing to join the Global High Tech R&D team located in Naperville, IL as a Lead Mechanical Engineer . The GHT team supports the Light Water business for Data Centers, Microelectronics, and Colloidal Technologies. This role will lead cooling equipment innovation projects for our Data Center portfolio, communicate regularly with the field/customers/business leaders, design/test/implement new equipment, and ensure a robust pipeline for new products and platforms that help our customers solve complex cooling problems.
What you will do:
Manage and drive a projects that deliver unique equipment solutions related to water usage and cooling for our Data Center customers.
Improve design and testing of cooling distribution units (CDU) and other elements used in direct to chip cooling applications.
Develop solutions to complex research problems requiring creativity and ingenuity. Plan, perform, and interpret results from relevant experiments and present data in a concise and usable format.
Ensure protection of Nalco Water intellectual property through patenting, licensing, and joint development agreements.
Collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team of sales leaders, researchers, industry technical consultants, functional business partners, and OEM partners to develop new ideas that solve difficult problems related to water usage and energy efficiency in Data Centers.
Communicate project status and innovation impact regularly to stakeholders and business leaders.
Develop and lead an equipment roadmap incorporating traditional and new technologies such as direct to chip and immersion cooling.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related discipline: BS and 6+ years; MS and 4+ years or PhD and 2+ years related experience.
Experience in equipment dosing, cooling, and/or digital/automation innovation for industrial and commercial applications.
Experience with thermal management systems and CFD.

Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience in technical project leadership and implementation of strategic roadmaps
Extensive knowledge of cooling technologies, cold plates, and cooling distribution units.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of customer requirements, industry standards, and regulations related to cooling distribution units.
Experience in project management and leading design/testing projects.
Annual or Hourly Compensation Range
The base salary range for this position is $117,200.00 - $175,800.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus pay based on performance, per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.Benefits
