Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new mechanical components and systems for high-reliability power conversion products used in aerospace and defense. This cradle-to-grave position requires the use of CAD software to create detailed drawings, test and analyze prototypes, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams. The role demands strong CAD proficiency, experience with electromechanical integration, and the ability to manage full product lifecycles. Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical parts and systems, producing precise CAD models and technical documentation.
- Evaluate prototype functionality through testing to ensure they meet safety, reliability, and performance standards; resolve any technical issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, engineers, and production staff to achieve project goals.
- Maintain thorough records of design workflows, specifications, and deliverables.
- Ensure all designs align with applicable industry codes and regulatory requirements.
- Perform feasibility assessments and generate cost projections for proposed solutions.
- Apply engineering knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges.
- Oversee the production process for components theyve designed.
- Interface with clients as needed to clarify requirements or provide updates.
- Follow Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) protocols.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
- Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred, but SolidWorks accepted).
- Experience with electromechanical integration and testing, including familiarity with electronic testing equipment and PCB assemblies.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Strong communication and project coordination skills.
- Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.
- Associate degree in engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CAD tools.
- Relevant work experience or a combination of education and hands-on training.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents in English.
- Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities.
