What to Expect? The Building Material Specialist identifies and negotiates strategic relationships with current customers and develops new business relationships to improve sales and profits in assigned territory.
On a daily basis our Building Materials Sales Representative:
Diligently prospects for new and maintains current customer relationships through regular in-person customer sales calls, cold calls and other communication avenues promoting specific product group(s) to specific customer segment(s) by following SCP/SPP/NPT consistent sales execution and translates those efforts into the achievement of sales, margins and customer goals within assigned territory.
Maintains a regular follow-up game plan that results in the ongoing development of qualified new business leads and the preservation of assigned book of business in CRM software to maintain customer commitments and schedule follow ups.
Expediently handles complaints or situations that may arise involving pricing, delivery/shipping errors or delays, returns, etc. and resolves these issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
Reviews Pool Digest for product use by each customers account.
Collaborates and documents pertinent customer information including pricing, issues, product updates, deliveries, market intel and returns with appropriate team members i.e. operations, credit, purchasing, etc.
Treats customers as business partners, by recommending product solutions, upsell options, notifying them of price increases, industry news and sales leads designed to make their jobs easier and more profitable.
Educates customers on our entire product line, as well as all available promotions, marketing opportunities, services and resources that bring value and can help support sales.
Research and studies the market to stay aware of competitive situations. Gathers competitive information and other market information regularly while interacting cooperatively with other members of the distribution team.
Assists operations and purchasing departments with inventory control by providing timely communication regarding new business needs or reduced or lost business.
Remains current on product and industry knowledge by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or reading trade journals.
Travels throughout assigned territory (50% to 60% of time) to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers at sales center or by phone.

What You Will Need:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 5 years).
A t least 2 years of B2B sales experience in wholesale distribution, construction, or building materials, with a demonstrated track record of success.
Proficiency in business mathematics, including percentages, ratios, discounts, and interest calculations.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents such as safety protocols, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals. Clear and professional written communication skills for drafting reports and correspondence.
Confident verbal communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information to customers and team members.
Analytical skills to define and solve practical problems, collect data, evaluate facts, and draw valid, timely conclusions. Ability to interpret and execute instructions delivered in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule format.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to learn and utilize inventory management systems and internet-based software tools.
Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
