Job Overview:

Project Engineer (PE) is primarily responsible for setting up jobs, training, and cross-training Field Engineers. The Project Engineer is responsible for progress reporting, cost control analysis, project cost forecasting, cost, and cash flow development, change management and contingency management. Administers and coordinates the daily operations of the project site working closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager. Will lead training effort of the Field Engineer job functions to ensure Primoris’s processes are learned, developed, and demonstrated.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Field Engineers.
  • Participate in new job setup and oversee progress reporting, cost control analysis, project cost forecasting, change management, and contingency management.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the project stays within scope and various project-related activities.
  • Train and develop Field Engineers and Project Administrators in Primoris processes and job functions.
  • Track project progress and financial status, analyzing costs, efficiency, and production.
    Support Project Manager and Site Manager with change orders, project budgets, and cost forecasts.
  • Coordinate project update meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
    Manage the project coordination platform(s) including managing RFIs, submittals, quality documentation, project documentation, etc. by coordinating with responsible parties.
  • Manage engineering requests and deliverables through the construction phase of the project.
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ensure final inventory and jobsite closeout activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist Site Manager and Project Manager in the daily operations of the project site.
  • Work with Trade Superintendents to understand various work disciplines.
  • Assist with subcontractor-related tasks, purchase requests, agreements, and deliverables.
  • Assist with permits and compliance as needed.
  • Ensure drawing redlines are captured accurately and facilitate developing redlines into record drawings.
  • Participate in lessons learned meetings.
  • Update the project schedule weekly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Accounting (math and record-keeping)
  • Ability to give presentations to groups of up to 10 people.
  • Involved with and understands 2 or more disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, e-mail) and Visio.
  • Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.
  • Project Engineers are expected to re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to (project duration averages 6-12 months).

Pay Equity

$110,000- $120,000

Primoris Renewable Energy provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. Primoris Renewable Energy reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Safety and Dress Requirements:

  • Sleeves always worn (no muscle shirts or tank tops)
  • No ripped/cut jeans
  • Steel or Composite toe boots when in the field
  • Other safety equipment will be provided as necessary

Physical Requirements:

  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical examination, as required by the company.
  • Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
  • Able to:
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations).
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads).
    • Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE when required.

Work Environment:

Location: Industrial construction sites, office, and/or fabrication shop.

Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site:

  • Uneven ground level
  • Obstructed pathways
  • Work performed at low and/or high elevations
  • Work performed in confined areas

Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site:

  • Predominately in an office/trailer
  • May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather or excessive humidity, rain, ice, snow, etc.
  • You may encounter various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
  • Potential exposure to chemical substances
