The Trades Maintenance Laborer performs helper or apprentice levels of work maintaining and repairing facilities, grounds, equipment or their parts in direct support of a process, system, facility or grounds.
Skills and Abilities:
- Assist the Trades Maintenance Technician, Trades Maintenance Specialist, and others in the performance of their duties.
- Perform operator-level inspections, servicing, and maintenance of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Perform non-skilled replacement, repair, or adjustment of facility or system components.
- Prepare and clean areas or equipment undergoing repair, painting, maintenance, construction or other related activity.
- Cut, trim, seed and apply fertilize, and under supervision apply herbicides/pesticides to turf grasses, soils, trees, and ornament shrubs.
- Maintain security and accountability for all tools, equipment and materials required in performance of duties, particularly in a medical, detention, or correctional setting.
- Maintain and use safety and personal protective equipment.
- Perform housekeeping services to maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in the workplace.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
- Operation and maintenance of basic hand and powered tools, equipment and materials encountered in area of specialization of assigned work area;
- Typical hazards of the assigned work areas or encountered in the area of specialization and safety procedures and equipment required;
- Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Abilities:
- Perform helper-level duties in the area of assignment;
- Operate and perform operator-level maintenance of powered equipment in the area of assignment;
- Relate to homeowners and tenants in a friendly, courteous and considerate manner;
- Work outside in varying weather conditions;
- Follow oral and written instructions;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public;
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
- This position will require the Incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
- Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain one within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a cureent Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
