This position is responsible for the electrical maintenance and service work in the Utilities Department.
Major Duties
- Installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, controllers, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems.
- Tests locates, and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, storage batteries, switchboards, controllers, contactors, switches, and other fixtures and appliances.
- Maintain a stock of selected electrical supplies; prepare reports and maintain records.
- Services, repairs, and maintains lighting, power, and heating, as assigned.
- Performs electrical maintenance and service work.
- Installs or repairs SCADA fixtures, power outlets, and switches.
- Maintains and repairs air conditioning unit.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of modern SCADA procedures and methods including computers and applicable software.
- Knowledge of national electrical codes.
- Knowledge of installation of emergency backup generators.
- Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical trade.
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work from drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate from an accredited institution.
- At least five (5) years of electrical work experience.
- Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.

Complexity/Scope of Work
- The work consists of related electrical maintenance and repair duties. Electrical hazards contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in county facilities. Success in this position ensures safe and well-maintained electrical systems.
