JOB SUMMARY
The Electrician & Maintenance Technician provides a clean, safe, and professional environment for our patrons, guests, and staff by conducting building maintenance and electrical repair programs that ensure the facilitys equipment, systems, and infrastructure are in good working order. This role supports organizational goals, mission, and values with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service.
Additional Information: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position is eligible for the Conservatory's benefit package offered to full-time employees, which includes medical, dental and vision insurance, company paid Life/AD&D/Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance, participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Program (OPERS), optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, generous Paid Time Off (PTO), and complimentary membership to the Conservatory.
Compensation: $31.25-$38.50/hour paid biweekly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Duties:
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems, components, and equipment (e.g., lighting, outlets, switches, breakers, motors, and control panels).
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently and safely, adhering to all codes and regulations.
Install new wiring, conduit, and electrical panels for renovations or new construction.
Maintain accurate documentation of all electrical work and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes.
Coordinate with outside vendors and inspectors as needed for electrical permits and compliance.
General Maintenance Duties:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, hot water boiler, plumbing, carpentry, painting, water features and general building systems.
Monitor, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems to ensure operational efficiency.
Respond promptly to facility repair requests and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment for events, staff needs, or special projects.
Occasionally operate lifts and ladders to ascend plant canopy for maintenance.
Maintain building exteriors, snow removal, minor landscaping, and seasonal upkeep.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors year-round under a variety of conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, high humidity and wet weather, dark and wet, underground, elevated catwalks and on lifts as well as in tight spaces and noisy areas.
Safety & Operational Support:
Participate in safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, supplies, and mechanical areas.
Collaborate with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and improve facilities performance.
Contribute to sustainability initiatives through energy-efficient practices and waste reduction.
Serve as a key team member during emergency response, building evacuations, and facility lockdowns.
EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
Valid driver's license.
Valid electrician license or certification required. (Journeymen or OCILB)
Minimum of 3 years experience in electrical and general maintenance work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of building systems, tools, and safety procedures.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
