Purpose and Scope
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The essential function of the position within the organization is to supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC and other refrigeration systems within the District. The position is responsible for supervising assigned mechanics, coordinating HVAC maintenance schedules and procedures, diagnosing malfunctions and assisting with routine and emergency repairs as needed, ensuring prompt and professional customer service, and performing related work as assigned. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

1.Supervises assigned technical staff, including recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and recommending termination; prepares periodic employee performance evaluations.
2.Coordinates and supervises daily HVAC maintenance and improvement projects District-wide.
3.Provides guidance to personnel in complying with applicable policy and procedures, and standards of quality and safety; develops and presents training in the safe use of maintenance tools and equipment.
4.Selects and procures necessary equipment, parts and materials; monitors expenditures and prepares related reports. Evaluates and makes recommendations for major repair work to be done in-house or contracted.
5.Supervises and assists as necessary with diagnostic, maintenance and repair work; inspects work in progress and completed by both staff and contractors to ensure compliance with District policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety. 6.Coordinates assigned activities with those of other District staff and outside agencies as appropriate.
7.Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility; respond to after-hours requests for service.
8.Maintains records of work requests, work completed, hours and materials used, and other necessary information.
9.Assists in establishing HVAC maintenance plans, standards and schedules; maintains an efficient work order system; receives and supervises the timely completion of work orders.
10.Performs general administrative/clerical work as necessary, including entering and retrieving computer data, maintaining work records, copying and filing documents, preparing reports.
11.Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires 2 years of college plus an additional 2 years related experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 4 years. Valid driver's license is required.
