Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for one (1) Boiler Operator (Floater) position.
Boiler operators at Broughton Hospital provide hot water and steam for Domestic Hot water, as well as heating needs for old Broughton Campus. This department is on site 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, as well as the above primary duties these workers are responsible for assisting with the following:
- Accompanying elevator repair contractors while on site, for safety and privacy reasons.
- Acting as a dispatch point for emergency maintenance calls, after-hours and on the weekend.
- Prepping boilers for periodic inspection by Insurance representatives and Department of Labor.
- Routine maintenance of pumps, pipes, and equipment serving the boilers inside boiler plant building.
- Routine inspection and maintenance of unmanned boilers placed in various areas around campus.
The staff in this department are operating without any redundancy and any and all vacancies will require increased overtime as well moving staff assisting on other shifts
Knowledge of the operation of boilers and or related equipment.
1 year Experience operating boilers or 1 year in a mechanical trade such as HVAC, plumbing or electrical.
Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks on a periodic basis.
One year of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with mechanical maintenance or boiler operation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
