Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mold Design Engineer to join our engineering team who will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing molds for manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality production and cost efficiency. This role requires expertise in mold design, proficiency in CAD software, and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly injection molding.
Responsibilities
Design and develop precision molds for injection molding, or other manufacturing processes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product designers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance, to ensure mold designs meet product specifications and production requirements.
Perform mold flow analysis and simulations to optimize mold performance, reduce defects, and improve cycle times.
Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for mold fabrication.
Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of molds to ensure functionality and durability.
Troubleshoot and resolve mold-related issues during production, recommending design improvements as needed.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control protocols.
Stay updated on advancements in mold design technology and manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
10 years of experience in mold design
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and mold manufacturing techniques.
Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and creating technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing for prototyping.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
Familiarity with CNC machining, EDM, or other mold fabrication processes.
