Shipfitter**

**Job Description**

Join our team as a Shipfitter, where you will play a critical role in fabricating and assembling structural components of ships. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, performing metalwork, and ensuring the highest quality standards in ship construction and maintenance.

**Responsibilities**

+ Fabricate and assemble structural parts of ships, including bulkheads, frames, and hulls.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine specifications and requirements.

+ Perform welding, cutting, and shaping of metal components using various tools and equipment.

+ Install and secure fittings, fixtures, and other components on ships and marine vessels.

+ Inspect and test completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.

+ Install and maintain ships' piping systems such as steam, heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil lines.

+ Plan the layout of pipe sections, cut and bore holes in bulkheads and decks for installation.

+ Operate shop machines to cut and thread pipe and pipe fittings, including valves, traps, and thermostats.

+ Bend pipes to specified shapes, bolt or weld brackets to support pipe systems.

+ Connect pipes to fixtures such as heat exchangers, laundry and galley equipment, pumps, and tanks.

+ Repair, pack, and adjust valves.

+ Test installed systems for leaks and ensure they meet specifications.

**Essential Skills**

+ Experience in general labor, construction, and fabrication.

+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

+ Skilled in welding, grinding, and use of shipyard tools.

+ Ability to operate shop machines for cutting and threading pipes.

+ Experience in shipfitting and marine vessel maintenance.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience.

+ Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

**Work Environment**

Work is conducted at a shipyard located in Honolulu, HI, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including a half-hour lunch break. The role involves hands-on work with various tools and equipment in a shipyard setting. Dress code is appropriate for a construction and fabrication environment.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
