As an Environmental Engineering Consultant, you will provide oversight and operational assistance for domestic water systems, wastewater systems, and central housing plant systems within the DOC Bureau of Operations. You will address utility management and environmental issues including pollutant emissions for boiler and generator operations, water permits for effluent discharge, and wastewater treatment effluent discharge permitting. You will communication with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting. This role requires the ability to make sound decisions by using field-based knowledge and experiences to resolve engineering and operationalconcerns. In addition, you will collaborate closely with the Continuity of Government Relocation Team when emergencies necessitate temporary relocation of essential functions, while executing all tasks in a manner that supports continued operational effectiveness.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week upon the successful completion of a 6 month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as an Environmental Engineer or an Air Quality Engineer ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of professional engineering experience in environmental protection or in environmental project development, design and/or construction.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in p ossession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
