Carpenter II

PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK

Positions so classified lead, direct, and participate in the work of a crew of journeyman carpenters in the construction, maintenance and repair of structural, as well as other woodwork in accordance with standard practices of the trade. Assignments may be oral or written and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints. The work is performed independently and is reviewed by a supervisor for progress and results. This class is distinguished from Carpenter I by the level of skill required. May serve as a crew foreman, depending on area of assignment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent, and extensive experience as a carpenter in the general repair or maintenance of buildings, completion of a carpentry apprenticeship, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Current vacancy requires a valid Louisiana Drivers license prior to appointment. Future vacancies filled under this class title under other areas of assignment may not have the same requirement.

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Examination will be a combination of multiple-choice and performance tests.
