Project Manager Staff

The Project Manager Staff is responsible for producing results and leading a team that will handle moderate to large projects with a focus on safety, efficiency and profit. Preparing, reviewing and approving RFPs, evaluations, and contractor selection are keys to success in this role!

As a member of the Project Development team, you will lead initiatives and deliver impactful results that drive the advancement of New Energy Ventures Power Innovation projects. Your focus will center on emerging technologies such as post-combustion carbon capture at scale, simple and combined cycle gas turbine generators, fuel cells, energy storage systems including BESS, flywheels, and super capacitors. You will also explore fuel cell applications for air permit-restricted projects and support power generation initiatives behind the meter across multiple geographic locations and customer bases.

In your role, you will actively engage with external partnersincluding turbine suppliers, engineering firms, and technology providersto evaluate and determine the most effective solutions for CO capture and reduction in Williams power projects. These collaborations will include organizations such as Burns and McDonnell for engineering support, and technology providers like ION, Shell/Cansolv, Caterpillar/Solar, and Bloom for CO capture associated with fuel cells, among others.

Internally, you will collaborate with staff, commercial project leads, and customers to assess and present solutions and findings. This work will be iterative and will demand a high level of technical expertise, as well as strong commercial and project management skills. Through your leadership and innovation, you will help shape the future of energy solutions at Williams.

Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Leads a project team to implement project plans or programs with significant complexity to achieve objectives, while coordinating with our internal and external business partners
  • Sets up the core project team to facilitate achievement of the project objective
  • Coordinates key functions with our technical resources under the guidance of Project Life Cycle
  • Develops and implements project reports, presentations, schedules and costing forecasts
  • Presents and implements recommendations supported by sound engineering and operational efficiency that supports reliability targets and reduces risks inherent in the project
  • Understands the economic impact of the project being developed to drive solutions
  • Anticipates issues, collects information, assesses opportunity, analyzes alternative solutions and makes meaningful decisions that impact our business
  • Develops and coordinates optimum project solutions that improve economic profit
  • Leads and mentors project teams and contractors
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree; a minimum 15 years experience in oil and gas engineering/project management
  • Preferred: Bachelors degree in engineering or construction management and Master's degree in business, project management or engineering management
  • Preferred: Project Management Certification (PMP), Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and Microsoft Specialist Project Certification (MS)
Shift/Work hours/Travel Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%
Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrates strong organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Prior experience with PLC/Stage-Gate processes and extensive experience with facility construction or operations in the oil and gas industry
