Senior Transportation Engineer

Parsons has been a leader in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure across the world for more than 75 years. Our Texas team is looking for an experienced senior transportation engineer to add to our growing team. Our team is focused on helping our clients expand and improve their transportation systems through innovative and transformative solutions.

Position Overview:

The Senior Transportation Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing the growth of our practice by providing expertise to our Texas team and clients. You will contribute to Parsons projects, including the study, planning, and functional/preliminary design of transportation infrastructure. The project focus may include complete streets, arterial roads, highways, transit and rapid transit facilities, active transportation facilities, and other systems related to transportation. Projects may be municipal, provincial, federal, or private in nature, or delivered through alternative means. There will also be opportunities to progress projects to preliminary and detailed design, tender, and construction. Your projects will implement our celebrated Parsons complete streets and transit-oriented design approaches and will transform the communities where they are located across Texas and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed of trends in transportation planning and infrastructure and current and potential future consulting opportunities.

  • Perform multi-modal and comprehensive traffic operations analyses using state-of-the-art analysis software applications in support of transportation studies and infrastructure design projects.

  • Prepare letters, technical memorandums, reports, exhibits, graphics, and drawings to clearly present information to internal and external groups, clients, and industry peers.

  • Recommend preferred plans and designs and provide technical rationales.

  • Identify and evaluate alternative planning and engineering solutions to infrastructure challenges/opportunities.

  • Assist and play a key role for staff to deliver high-quality services and innovative solutions to complex planning and design challenges involving multiple stakeholders.

  • Manage or coordinate the work of other subject matter experts and firms and work within the Parsons collaborative team environment.

  • Manage or assist in the preparation of consulting team proposals and regularly enjoy the thrill of winning.

  • Champion Parsons support for new technologies, trends, and advancements in the transportation planning field to retain technical competency and provide state-of-the-art services and advice to our clients.

  • Represent Parsons at professional association events, design standards workshops, and conferences.

  • Present your teams award-winning projects at local, provincial, national, and international conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years of transportation engineering experience.

  • Experience in leading or developing plans and/or designs for transportation.

  • Experience in working with multi-discipline teams.

  • Knowledge of TxDOT business trends and methods highly preferred.
