Covia is looking for a highly motivated, skilled individual to fill the position of Journeyman Millwright at our Nepheline Syenite Operation located at the Blue Mountain facility. This is a day shift weekend position. The shifts are twelve hours rotating one week, Thursday through Sunday 7am to 7pm. The following week, Friday through Sunday 7am to 7pm.

The candidate will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and job requirements
  • Dismantle machinery or equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
  • Performs duties with a focus on safety, environmental compliance and equipment reliability
  • Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting and conveyors using hand tools and power tools
  • Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel.
  • Installs and maintains fans and blowers
  • Installs and maintains hydraulic systems
  • Installs and maintains pneumatic systems
  • Aligns machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs
  • Calculates and determines dimensions using various resources and tools
  • Installs and maintains bearings, seals and packing
  • Installs and maintains equipment drive components
  • Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Sets up equipment using precision testing equipment including using alignment devices working to close tolerances
  • Sets up and operates all types of machine tools to drill, face, cut, turn, bore, mill and shape iron, steel and non-metallic materials and parts to precision tolerances
  • Selects cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook
  • Operates mobile equipment including telehandler and forklifts as required.
  • Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.
  • Inspects and examines equipment for defects and causes of failure
  • Provides recommendations for equipment maintenance improvement to reduce equipment downtime and increase equipment reliability
  • Make decisions based on measurable information including acceptable tolerances
  • Weld, braze, solder and cut proficiently
  • Installs and maintains compressors and pumps including appropriate PM’s for PSI Compressors
  • Installs and maintains pipe systems and valves
  • Assists in the development of accurate equipment Bill of Materials

Requirements:

  • Hold a valid journeyman trade certification in Millwrighting
