POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Painter will operate paint guns using the proper technique to apply industrial paint finishes on product. They will ensure continuous production with minimal waste by performing pre-operation activities each day to ensure proper equipment startup, including adjusting and diagnosing paint gun settings.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Operate paint guns using proper technique to apply industrial paint finishes on product.
  • Ensure continuous production with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the shift while performing basic adjustments to ensure safe and efficient painting.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup each day and complete the necessary steps needed before product is painted.
  • Perform in-process inspections of products throughout production and ensure they meet visual standards of acceptance.
  • Adjust and diagnose problems with the paint gun settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure daily production report data is reported correctly and up to date. Recognize defective materials for color, surface blemishes, and finish.
  • Perform out of booth inspection and completes buffing, polishing or repairs on product.
  • Mix paint according to production card.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • 6 months prior painting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Prior autobody experience preferred.

  • Ability to meet medical clearance to wear a respirator, fresh air hood or PAP.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment.
