Job Overview

Martin Federal is seeking a Carpenter Technician to support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF)'s Fire Research Lab, performing tasks such as crime scene mock-ups. This role provides semi-professional technical support for engineers in research, design, development, testing, and manufacturing process improvement , focusing on electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Perform routine tasks under close supervision or detailed procedures, with work checked in progress or upon completion.
  • Assemble or install equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connections.
  • Conduct simple tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operate and adjust basic test equipment; record test data.
  • Maintain records of engineering data, perform calculations, and plot data to create simple graphs and curves.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoJ security clearance.
  • Minimum 6 months of relevant technical experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills , ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for document and presentation preparation.
Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions
  • Work in a laboratory setting.
  • Stand for long periods and operate multiple scientific equipment pieces.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds for short durations.
