You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRICAL ENGINEER in the CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze. This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidat es. The Selective Placement Factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
NOTE: You must submit a copy of your current license with your application package.
In addition, to the Selective Placement Factor, your resume must demonstrate at one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector as a professional electrical engineer. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leading, managing, or directing other professional engineers in electrical engineering design for a command; 2) Monitoring progress and solving problems to ensure timely and quality completion of engineering projects; 3) Ensuring electrical engineering designs comply with criteria, policies, codes, and standards; 4) Identifying, coordinating, and integrating various engineering, architecture, and other related disciplines to deliver advisory services and accomplish cost-effective, high-quality design and construction activities; and 5) Communicating with other professionals to field questions, resolve issues, and defend policies related to electrical engineering design.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
