Billing Supervisor

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising and participating in CFPUAs billing operations. This position is assigned to pay grade G19.

• Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Utility Billing Division.
• Oversees and participates in all aspects of billing and customer relations.
• Supervises and participates in the daily operations of CFPUAs billing operations in order to ensure quality customer service and high-level staff performance.
• Reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures for improving division performance and meeting goals.
• Performs complex billing duties including resolution of customer complaints, interpreting administrative policies, resolves billing issues, and coordinates the divisions activities with other departments.
• Oversees implementation of CFPUAs billing policies and procedures.
• Monitors and coaches billing staff to ensure compliance with current billing policies.
• Coordinates the selection and training of division personnel including motivating and evaluating assigned personnel; identify and resolve staff deficiencies; monitors work activities to ensure safe work practices, work quality, and accuracy; and ensures compliance to applicable rules, policies, and procedures.
• Prepares and provides reports.
• Responds to questions and inquires and investigates complaints.
• Maintains billing invoice cycle recurrence and billing cycle dates.
• Recommends policy, procedure, and process improvements.
• This position is a member of the organization management team and is responsible for demonstrating and holding others accountable to the CFPUA values.
• This position is required to work in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals.

• This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure staff completes all relevant employment training.
• This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures.
• This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with federal and state employment law.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.

• Associates degree in accounting or any related course study with three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of associate's degree, five (5) years of relevant work experience is acceptable.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
