Help
- Cleans offices, restrooms, storerooms, corridors, stairways, facilities and other areas, ensuring they are maintained in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition. Vacuum cleans rugs and draperies. Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial type power equipment and chemicals. Adjusts and changes buffers, brushes and other attachments on power equipment. Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes sinks, lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap. Empties ash trays and wastebaskets. Polishes door knobs and other metal fixtures. Cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, using stepladders and extension ladders. Cleans mirrors and water fountains. Washes walls, windows, and blinds. Replaces burnt out light bulbs, dusts chandeliers, and HVAC ducts.
- Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap. Reports water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiring maintenance to supervisor. Maintains supply of cleaning materials and advises supervisor when more supplies are needed, or when equipment needs repair or replacement. Notes condition of facilities and reports to supervisor broken windows, water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiring maintenance.
- Performs room set ups for events, etc. Moves and arranges furniture IAW party sheets and as directed. Using club vehicle delivers and picks up items for events scheduled at the Bayview Commonwealth Center to include food, beverage, equipment, etc.
- Checks parking lot and outside areas daily, picking up trash, cigarette butts, etc. Performs seasonal tasks as required; such as, applying ice control material to entrances of buildings, shoveling snow, laying sandbags, picking up litter around buildings, mowing grass, and watering lawns around buildings. May be required to run hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clear small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer.
- Operates government vehicles in the course of daily duties.
Physical Effort:
- Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts, etc.
- Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Works inside or outside, occasionally in bad weather.
- If indoors, may be exposed to dirt and dust.
- Chance of serious injury (e.g. broken bones, serve cuts, strained back).
- Continuous standing, walking, stooping, or lifting is required.
- Works on ladders.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Experience in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of up to 10,000 pounds such as pickup trucks, sedans, vans, jeeps, etc. Experience of defensive driving techniques is desired, including skills to recognize developing hazardous road and traffic conditions and the judgement to select alternate routes to avoid potential problems. Ability to use, control, and clean common hand tools, and simple power equipment. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
