Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of communication Arts as a Production Electrician on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory of all lighting and projection equipment, ensuring equipment is well-maintained and performance-read
Interpret and execute lighting and projection plots provided by designers
Serve as the Production Electrician for mainstage shows, ensuring all lighting and projection elements are installed and functioning
Collaborate with the Theatre Technical Director as requested to support all aspects of backstage production, including:
Installation of audio systems and equipment
Sourcing materials and supplies
Maintenance of theatre program facilities
Construction and repair of scenery and props,
Performing general technical and backstage duties as needed
Shift Specifics
Up to 8 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
Coursework or training in Stagecraft, Stage Construction, or a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience in backstage theatre operations, including, lighting, projections, audio technology, and/or set construction
Proposed Salary
$8.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
