Location: Based in De Pere & Green Bay, WI.

Position Summary:

The Safety Manager will foster a culture of productivity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of reducing losses and liability throughout multiple locations. This key role will lead the Safety function to ensure the company meets or exceeds legislative, corporate and industry requirements, as well as best practices standards. The Safety Manager position does require travel between Wisconsin facilities (De Pere and Green Bay) as needed and could travel to TN or AK.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all policies, procedures, and safety rules are enforced.
  2. Responsible for OSHA compliance, workplace safety and pro-active employee protection programs.
  3. Supports all facilities and ensure corporate standards and expectations are followed.
  4. Conduct safety audits and develop sound recommendations for corrections by working collaboratively with manufacturing management and maintenance staff as needed.
  5. Leads the Safety Committees at each facility to ensure a solid safety culture and continuous improvement.
  6. Investigates all incident reports and ensures timely follow up and corrective action taken.
  7. Responsible for executing safety and health initiatives.
  8. Stays current on changing workplace safety rules and guidelines.
  9. Participates in safety networks and communicates upcoming safety and health changes as appropriate to the management team.
  10. Evaluates corporate policies to ensure they meet Federal, State, and local regulations.
  11. Monitor and report environmental data.
  12. Lead safety communications during the All-Employee Meetings
  13. Work closely with P&C insurance adjustors, fire protection inspection programs, and local fire departments.
  14. Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
  15. Monitor, track, and report out DART / TRIR / Incident metrics for each facility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
  2. BS in Occupational Safety and Health, or Safety Management preferred but will take experience into consideration.
  3. Proven experience as a Safety Manager or similar role for at least 3-5 years
  4. Record of successful safety programs reducing injuries, lost time, restricted days, reducing MOD and DART Rates year over year
  5. 3-5 years of training, leading, and managing safety teams and committees preferred
  6. OSHA 10 Hour Certification preferred
  7. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  8. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and understand the importance of timely and complete communication to all who are impacted by a decision.
  9. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  10. Able to facilitate small group interactions and hold others accountable without direct authority.
  11. Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills. You have the ability to set and adjust priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimum direct supervision while effectively handling several projects at one time.
  12. Provide constructive feedback to co-workers.
  13. Have a sense of urgency in responding to external and internal customers.
  14. Be a reliable team player who seeks continuous improvement in yourself.
  15. Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite of products, with a focus on Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
  16. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  17. Strong interpersonal skills; personal and pleasant to both internal and external customers.
  18. Enjoys working in a strong team environment.
  19. Maintains a positive, energetic, can-do attitude when representing the company to employees, customers, and visitors.
  20. Organized, analytical, creative, and adaptive in your approach to problem solving.
  21. Successfully track, report, manage and move projects from start to finish.
  22. Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.

Work Relationship and Scope:

Reports to the VP Human Capital & Recruiting and works closely with all FyterTech employees to accomplish established goals. Works daily with highly confidential business and employee information.

Measures of Performance:

Safety, quality, accuracy, reliability, friendliness, thoroughness and timeliness of services provided to internal and external customers; adherence to FyterTech policies and procedures; ability to earn the trust and respect of employees and co-workers; effectively communicates and develops good working relationships with co-workers; professional workplace appearance and conduct; keeps FyterTech, customer, and employee information confidential; participates in training and appropriate professional development; reliability in reporting to work regularly and on time; understands and adheres to FyterTech policies and procedures.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within the normal FyterTech setting. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally during normal business hours, as both scheduled and unscheduled work hours may arise. Must be able to bend, twist, turn and lift/move up to fifty pounds. Required travel between offices. Out-of-town/overnight business travel may also be required. Serves as a representative of the organization at appropriate functions.
