The Site Supervisor of New Home Construction supervises volunteers, interns and AmeriCorps members on the construction site to accomplish all work related to the construction of new homes. The position requires an ability to support operations and assist with the management of a construction site with independent discretion and judgment for related projects. A key aspect of this role is creating a positive, productive, safe, and fun working environment where volunteers and staff feel valued and engaged. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet the organizations ongoing needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist the Senior Site Supervisor in the management of new home construction projects, ensuring timely completion and quality standards are met.
* Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and implement best practices for construction site safety.
* Train and mentor staff and volunteers in construction techniques and safety procedures, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment.
* Prepare the site for volunteer workdays, ensuring that materials and tools are organized and accessible.
* Encourage and support volunteers of all skill levels, ensuring they have a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
* Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials, and communicate updates in weekly meetings.
* Monitor material needs and ensure proper inventory management, keeping track of receipts and invoices for accounting purposes.
* Communicate regularly with leadership and other departments regarding project status, needs, and challenges.
* Identify and notify Supervisor to assist in troubleshooting on-site construction issues as they arise.
* Uphold and promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
* Participate in organization training, meetings and special events or projects as needed.
* Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment both at the site and in the office.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years of experience in residential construction, with supervisory experience preferred.
* Knowledge of construction practices, tools, and safety regulations.
* A willingness to motivate a diverse team, including volunteers with varying skill levels.
* Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software preferred.
* Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
* Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
Work Environment:
* Primarily outdoor work in a construction setting with exposure to varying weather conditions.
* Some office work required planning and documentation.
* Weekly schedule is Tuesday through Saturday.
