Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is focused on providing the highest skilled and motivated boatbuilding capabilities to build and test new technology prototypes and New Product Development boats. Engineering owns the product definition and the BOM, this position is responsible to produce the initial product builds to specification and validate with engineering that it is meeting requirements, and most importantly train the production teams on the new product.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Design Validation boat 1 and Process Validation boat 2 with some help from manufacturing teams.
  • Support manufacturing in building boats 3 through 5 during final training & process validation.
  • Build any technology assessment prototypes required to mitigate risk and validate design principles.
  • Learn and develop skills in all areas of the boatbuilding process to enable the launch build team to work together through each stage of the build process.
  • Work in conjunction with Product Development team members, Purchasing, Manufacturing and others to maximize success of New Process and NPD projects pertinent to cost, quality, manufacturing readiness, and schedule attainment.
  • Participate with designers, engineers, customer relations and suppliers to ensure the product can be cost effectively manufactured with capable processes.
  • Provide thorough training of how to build the product to all members of the manufacturing groups. Make use of the Train the Trainer process for each area.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Basic math skills, including algebra and geometry
  • Can read and interpret engineering documents/drawings
  • Can use and interpret eDrawings for product information
  • Is considered an expert in at least one area of the boatbuilding process
  • Willing and excited to learn and develop skills in any and all other areas of the build process
  • Able to use drills, drivers, saws, and power tools of all kinds
  • Able, or willing to learn, to run a spray and chopper rig, roll chop, dry layup, infusion, sew & upholster, install generators…
  • Solid Microsoft office product computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • 5 plus years working in or supporting a manufacturing operation
  • An Associate’s Degree or Technical Certifications in relevant disciplines would be a plus.
