Master Mechanic (TRANS)

Qualifications:

• High school graduate/GED; minimum of five (5) year’s experience in automotive and or heavy duty vehicle maintenance and repair procedures; verifiable vocational training may be considered for a portion of the experience requirements.

• General knowledge of computer operating systems, with experience utilizing computerized diagnostic programs preferred.

• A satisfactory MVR; participation in school division controlled substances and alcohol testing; minimum of four A.S.E. certifications, with a preference towards A.S.E. Master level status. Obtaining a Virginia State Certified Safety Inspectors license and valid commercial driver’s license with necessary endorsements will be required within the first six months of employment

• Exposure to chemicals, liquids, noise, and other hazards related to standard automotive repair operations.

• Work is performed primarily at a vehicle repair facility; employees may be required to work outside at times in inclement weather; employee should be able to work with other shop employees as a team player.

• Ability to operate shop tools and equipment common to vehicle maintenance and repair operations; ability to perform some heavy lifting; ability to climb onto and under equipment and/or vehicles; ability to work for extended periods on concrete floors; ability to operate tow trucks and other vehicles common to consolidated fleet repair activities; working knowledge of welding and fabrication; must own sufficient hand tools to perform the duties as assigned; work may involve weekends or overtime.

Pay Rate:

Grade-C12(credit is based on years of full-time experience in a related position)

Assignment:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
